NEW PLAYLIST: 3BALLMTY BLOW UP TRIBAL GUARACHERO

3BallMTY are the first mainstream stars of tribal guarachero, the Mexican electronic genre that cobbles together ancient, pre-Hispanic drums with house and pop vocals. Propelled by the strength of their slick debut album’s titular single, 3BallMTY’s Inténtalo LP topped Billboard’s Regional Mexican Charts, and in the months since, the group’s trio of Erick Rincon, Sheqqo Beat and DJ Otto have become Univision stars and churned out big-budget videos. Here you’ll find an abridged story of 3BallMTY’s rise—many of the efforts of tribal’s early innovators, like Ricardo Reyna and DJ Mouse, aren’t on Spotify—with jams from Inténtalo alongside the work of renowned Monterrey accordionist Celso Piña, slowed-down cumbia rebajada and cuts from this year’s in-demand tribal compilations.
